Animal rights activists scorn zoos but we do believe they can serve a good purpose of educating people and generating greater appreciation (and care) by presenting them beyond the pages of books and magazines. The huge number of visitors that came on the day we went is a good indication that local tourism is doing well.

Subic is not best know for its beaches so we had little expectations when we got there ... but to our surprise, it was a small but really good beach, with fine sand, clear waters and a wide shallow beach, excellent for the kids. It was a pleasant discovery.

The Ocean Adventure in Subic offers entertainment at par with similar attractions around the world. It was a fun time with seals, dolphins, whales and high divers.

 

We visited the only mine attraction in the Philippines - the Balatoc Mines in Benguet. An interesting and very educational but little known attraction that should be better promoted by the local tourism agencies in Baguio City.

 

Revisiting the summer capital, we wanted to take away the colors of this wonderful city to allow your imagination to fill in the hues and shades.

We took in a rare opportunity to attend an event on an active American naval ship, the USS Blue Ridge. It was a wonderful night of wine and music.

As part of our research for our own beauty expo and beauty magazine, we once again trooped to the recently concluded Cosmoprof in Hong Kong. This show continues to amaze us as it just keeps on growing and growing. The beauty industry is definitely big business.
